How We Work With Children & Families
Our therapeutic approach is grounded in respect, collaboration, and evidence-based practice, always honouring each child's unique way of being in the world.
DIR Floortime (Child-led)
Following your child's lead through play-based interactions that build emotional connections and developmental capacities.
Sensory Approach
Understanding and supporting each child's unique sensory profile to help them feel regulated and ready to learn.
Trauma-Informed Care
Creating safe, predictable environments and relationships that recognize the impact of adverse experiences on development.
Neuro-Affirming
Celebrating neurodiversity and focusing on strengths while supporting challenges without trying to 'fix' who your child is.
Family-Systems Approach
Recognizing that families are the experts on their children and involving the whole family in goal-setting and therapy.
Top-down & Bottom-up Blended
Top-down starts by assessing/treating a child's functional performance first; bottom-up starts by assessing/treating underlying skill deficits first — a blended approach will be adopted.
“We believe in meeting children, teens and young adults where they are, celebrating their unique strengths, and partnering with families to create meaningful change that lasts beyond the therapy room.”

Christie Leong
Founder & Occupational Therapist
Christie has 10 years of experience in the field of Occupational Therapy. She completed a Masters of Occupational Therapy from La Trobe University, has completed the OTA's Formal Supervision Program, and holds current accreditation under the Better Access to Mental Health initiative. Her career began in the public health system, where she built specialist experience in Child and Youth Mental Health, working closely with children and families experiencing emotional dysregulation, mental disorder, and behavioural difficulties. She later moved into private paediatric practice, taking on leadership positions such as Senior OT Clinician, Team Leader, and Allied Health Services Manager while working with neurodiverse children and young people, before establishing her own practice as a Sole Trader with Resilient Kids OT.
Christie brings a strong commitment to neuro-affirming, sensory-based practice and draws on the DIR Floortime model, approaching her work through a trauma-informed lens that emphasises developmentally appropriate support for children and young people. She has particular expertise supporting individuals with Autism Spectrum Disorder, ADHD, Global Developmental Delay, Dyslexia, Dysgraphia, Dyspraxia, Cerebral Palsy, chromosomal conditions, Hypotonia, Selective Mutism, PDA, GAD, Seizure disorders, Down Syndrome, Hypermobility, and co-occurring mental health conditions. She is trained to assess a broad range of areas — including gross and fine motor skills, handwriting, self-care, executive functioning, cognition, emotional regulation, social skills, and primitive reflexes — tailoring her therapeutic approach to each client's individual developmental profile. Grounded in a family-centred, collaborative, and strengths-based philosophy, Christie prioritises working alongside families to achieve meaningful, lasting progress for the children and young people in her care.
Parent Reviews
I am incredibly grateful for the care, support, and professionalism provided by Christie to my son. From the very beginning, she took time to understand his individual needs and developed a personalized approach that helped him build confidence and improve his daily living skills. Her patience, encouragement, and practical strategies made a real difference in his progress. Every session was supportive, goal-focused, and empowering, and I always felt listened to and respected. Thanks to her expertise, my son have gained greater independence and feel much more confident managing everyday activities. I highly recommend her occupational therapy services to anyone looking for compassionate, knowledgeable, and dedicated professionals who genuinely care about achieving the best outcomes for their clients.
